Wondering how to stay well? It’s not that hard. Just incorporate seven basic pillars of health into your lifestyle and you are on your way to good health.

The first pillar of health is water. Water is the fluid of life. If you drink less than 64 ounces per day, you are probably dehydrated. And no, soda, coffee, and other beverages don’t count as water.

Pillar number two is enzymes. Food enzymes are the key to healthy digestion. Yes answers to the following indicate you might be deficient. Do you suffer from acid indigestion, heartburn or food allergies? Does your food “sit heavy in your stomach” or do you regularly have gas or bloating after meals or constipation?
Pillar three is fiber. Fiber is great. It fills you up so you’re less likely to overeat, and it promotes colon health, regulates the digestive process, and helps keep blood glucose even. It also lowers the incidence of certain cancers and heart disease.

Pillar number four is high quality, easily dissolved multiple-vitamins. Multis are the easiest nutrition most simply do not take. If you aren’t taking a multi-vitamin every day, you’re skipping an easy health “pillar.”

Pillar five is fats. Good fats can improve blood cholesterol levels, lower your risk for heart disease, and even suppress hunger, aiding in weight loss.
Pillar number six is antioxidants. Antioxidants are the body’s natural defense against free radical damage. The antioxidant vitamins E and C have now been linked to reduced incidence of Alzheimer’s.

The last pillar is probiotics. As a society, we try to get rid of bacteria. But the fact is that some bacteria are essential to our health. We call these “probiotics” and they aid in healthy digestion, and break down our food, aiding in nutrient absorption.

So, you can see prevention of disease is really not that hard. Just a few simple lifestyle changes and good supplementation go a long way on the path to vibrant health.
