When Going To See A Doctor For The First Time… |
There are some things an individual can do which may help them get the most from their visit. It’s always a good idea to make a list ahead of time which outlines what you want to tell the doctor. |

Other things a physician is likely to ask you about include things such as family history of any medical illnesses, mood disorders or psychiatric illnesses. The doctor will also want to know some of your social history and whether you have ever had any problems with drugs or alcohol. If you’ve had any blood tests, procedures, x-rays, etc., and then try to get copies of those results to take with you to the appointment. |

When scheduling your appointment, try to get the earliest appointment time of the day as the doctor will be less likely to be running behind. Also, write down the name of the office staff you speak to in case you need that information later. There will usually be a significant amount of paperwork to be filled out prior to seeing the doctor so try to arrive 20-30 minutes early to complete it. If you want to save some time, then ask the doctor’s office staff to send you the paperwork so you can fill it out in advance. You will also need to bring your insurance card with you to the appointment. |
